Bale and Packaging Styles

Depending on customer preferences, forage can be processed in different sizes and packaged in different ways.

A typical bale with 3 ties will weigh approximately 60 kg (130 lb), with half-bale sizes (30 kg or 65 lb). Large bales are approximately 450 kg (1000 lb).

Depending on the exporter, bales can be shrink-wrapped or wrapped in poly-sleeves.

Forage Varieties

Dairy farms and beef ranches around the world feed a varieity of forages, and livestock managers understand that cattle respond to differences in nutrition, fiber content and palatability. The United States produces a bounty of forage varieties, which are highlighted here.
